How do I know if I'm eligible for a scholarship?

For most Marshall Scholarship Foundation scholarships, applicants must be graduating seniors from either the Marshall High School or Charter School in Marshall, Wisconsin and planning to attend an accredited, post-secondary school.

Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of academic scholarship, school participation and community involvement. Some scholarships have special requirements such as a minimum GPA or a residency requirement, which are summarized on the Scholarship List. Additionally, there is funding available through named scholarships that may have additional criteria (see Scholarship List).

How do I apply for scholarships?

Graduating seniors must complete and submit applications online in the form of a "Student Profile," which can be started at any time. Student Profile access is through the "Students & Parents" tab on our website home page. Instructions and informational materials are available to assist in entering the required information.

Where can I find a list of MSF scholarships?

Click on the "Scholarship List" link on the "About Us" tab to review the list of current MSF-administered scholarships.

When do I apply for scholarships?

You can start your Student Profile at any time. Please review the current scholarship application window open and close dates to make sure your application is completed in time for consideration.

If I apply, will I automatically receive a scholarship?

No. MSF-administered scholarships are competitive. With that said, MSF does have a range of scholarships for all kinds of abilities and interests.

Where can I find a copy of the Permission to Release Information form?

Click here. Please return your signed and completed form to the Marshall High School office.

What if I forgot my username and/or password?

The fastest way to get help is to click the grey "Support" tab on any page on which you are working.

What if my email address changes?

Once you log into your profile, near the top of the page it will have a grey button that says "Click Here" to change your email address.

Do I need to provide a reference?

Yes. All applicants must provide a reference in their application. Ideally, your reference should be a teacher, coach, employer, counselor or other adult who knows you well. Family members, including legal guardians, should not be asked to be your reference. Please ensure you provide a valid and accurately spelled email address for your reference, as this is the only way they will be notified to complete a reference for you.

Do I need to submit a goals essay?

Yes.  All applicants must submit a goals essay for their application to be considered complete. This can be as short as 3-4 paragraphs. Incomplete applications may result in missing out on a scholarship.

How are scholarship award recipients determined?

Most parts of your profile are scored automatically by the computer system using a widely accepted rubric and following guidelines set by Scholarship America. Parts of your profile may be weighted differently depending on what the scholarship donor has set. For example, leadership or participation in a particular type of activity may carry more weight. Point values are assigned to sections of your profile, which is why it is important to be as specific as possible. A committee reviews the results of the computer scoring and other information in student profiles to determine scholarship award recipients.

Will my application be kept confidential?

Yes. Applications are evaluated anonymously based on the content of the Student Profile.

Who do I contact with questions about applying?
Questions may be directed to the "support" button on this website or emailed to InfoMarshallScholarship@gmail.com

What if I miss the application deadline?

If you miss the application deadline, you will not be eligible for MSF-administered scholarships. Best advice is to start early. Make sure you have plenty of time to complete the steps, including the goals essay.

Awards will be announced at the Marshall High School Senior Awards night, typically held in late May.

How and when must scholarship awards be accepted?

Awards should be accepted ASAP after Awards Night. This can easily be done by logging back into the Student Profile and accepting awards. Scholarship awards must be accepted no later than June 15. For instructions on how to accept a scholarship, click here.
